Welcome to Season 2024!

King Salmon Lodge, locally known as “KSL”, is perfectly nestled on the Naknek River near Katmai National Park.  Our historic lodge provides world-class fishing, unparalleled bear viewing and is the place where family and friends create memories of a lifetime.

The Lodge’s cocktail lounge, gourmet restaurant and event space allow private groups to host meetings, corporate conferences and special events.  KSL is located one mile from the King Salmon Airport where daily 737 jet service makes travel arrangements convenient for any size group.

As you may know, KSL was bought by a local Alaska group this year.  The new lodge manager Hyrum Neilson is spending this year with previous manager Matt Norman to make sure our guests have the best experience possible.  Hyrum is a life-long Alaskan and has been a fishing and hunting guide since 2003.  He and his family are excited to start this new adventure and continue creating unique and customized VIP experiences for you, our guest at King Salmon Lodge.

Fishing at the King Salmon Lodge

Located on the world-renowned Naknek River in the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska, the King Salmon Lodge is the destination for anglers and adventure travelers alike. The fishing in this area is truly epic! You can expect fishing beyond your wildest imagination with five abundant species: salmon, trophyrainbow trout, arctic char, grayling and northern pike.

It would be our pleasure to customize your Alaskan dream adventure. In addition to fully-guided fishing on the Naknek River, we offer unique, customized fly-outs to various rivers, lakes and streams. We can also help you plan a more do-it-yourself experience. We offer seasoned professional guides and fish-packaging services, modern boats, fishing gear and well-maintained dock systems . . . with Naknek River access just steps from your door.

Recent guest, Joanne Lewman, commented on TripAdvisor, “Fishing guides, float planes and whatever else you might need are taken care of for you and all you have to do is show up and be ready for an adventure. We had the time of our lives.”

Bear & Wildlife Viewing

King Salmon Lodge is a short scenic 15-minute floatplane flight to Katmai National Park where you can observe Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears and visit the fabulous Valley of 10,000 Smokes.  Acre for acre, nothing compares to the majestic beauty of Katmai National Park.

Landing at Brooks Camp you can view brown bears in their natural habitat, including the world-renowned Brooks Falls. Watch as bears stand atop the falls and grab jumping salmon right out of the air.  For both the wildlife photographer and the outdoor enthusiast, it’s a dream come true.

Visit Katmai National Park

King Salmon Lodge is fortunate to border Katmai National Park and Preserve. KSL is the preferred choice for deluxe overnight accommodations for fly-out trips into Katmai National Park. Stay and dine with us at the lodge and enjoy short scenic day trips by floatplane into Katmai National Park.

Katmai was originally established as a National Monument in 1918 to protect the volcanically devastated region surrounding Mount Katmai and the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. Today the Valley offers a chance to explore a landscape created by the largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century. The beauty, scale, wildness and mystery of the Valley make it one of the best places in the world to study the power of volcanic eruptions. The Valley also protects 9,000 years of human history and is essential for the thriving eco-system of red salmon and brown bears.

Private Jets

Commercial and private pilots alike agree that the King Salmon Airport (AKN) is easily accessible.  With a control tower, all-weather precision instrument approach, full category 1 capabilities (CAT I), no terrain and a 9,000-foot runway, pilots say that AKN is the most reliable airport around.  In fact, if a pilot cannot land elsewhere due to weather or other factors, they will use AKN as a “primary alternate” for the region of Southwest Alaska.

King Salmon Airport can accommodate jet-driven aircraft of any size.  Free and secure aircraft parking, FOB services, and shuttle transportation from wing-side to river-side make travel to this destination convenient for corporate or conference attendees.
