Transportation to Brooks Falls at Katmai National Park
A visit to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park is one of the most memorable experiences you can have during your stay at King Salmon Lodge. Because Brooks Camp is not accessible by road, transportation from King Salmon is provided by float plane or water taxi, depending on weather, availability, and operating conditions.
King Salmon Lodge works closely with local transportation providers throughout the season to coordinate Brooks Falls excursions for our guests. We highly recommend allowing our team to arrange your transportation on your behalf. This allows us to coordinate your departure with lodge shuttles, monitor schedules and weather conditions, communicate directly with transportation providers, and keep your entire itinerary organized from the lodge to Brooks Falls and back.
Guests are welcome to make their own reservations directly with third-party transportation providers; however, lodge-arranged transportation allows our team to oversee the details and respond quickly if schedules change. A $50 booking and coordination fee per trip to Brooks Falls, applies when King Salmon Lodge arranges transportation on your behalf. This service includes ongoing communication with transportation providers and coordination of your lodge transportation around your excursion.

Experience the brown bears of Katmai National Park alongside one of King Salmon Lodge’s experienced bear viewing and photography guides. We employ two dedicated photography guides, each accommodating groups of up to 5 guests at Brooks Falls.
Whether you are photographing bears from the iconic viewing platforms or experiencing permitted ground-level viewing opportunities, our guides will help you make the most of your time in Katmai. They know the area, understand bear behavior, and can help position you for exceptional viewing and photography opportunities while providing guidance for photographers of all experience levels.
Our guided Brooks Falls excursions are small-group experiences rather than private tours. Groups may be combined, with a maximum of five guests per guide, allowing us to provide as many lodge guests as possible with the opportunity to experience one of the world’s most remarkable brown bear destinations.
